Sans Substitute

Fendi Fall/Winter 2007 & Spring/Summer 2007

There has been one year in the history of Fendi that demands closer inspection. 2007 offered impeccable cut and attention to material. As a result I am truly melancholic regarding the fact that the menswear line as such doesn't exist anymore. Maybe I have to comfort myself with a logo bag.

I dropped in at Fendi boutique in London back in 2007. I saw those coats and everything and almost was about to cry. The price tag was around 900 pounds (which is not extremely expensive for , by the way).
But dreams come true, you know... Last year I found this fabulous piece on eBay.

I'm a bit confused about what Fendi are currently producing for men. Cause when I spoke to staff in Fendi boutique in Milan a year later, shop assistant told me she remembers those coats very well, since they were completely sold out. Nothing was left.
SS08 was very cool as well, but then... Such a pity.

yeah, actually ss08 and fw08 are both very good, too.

why were these 2 years especially strong?

I know nothing about strategies of fashion brands, unfortunately. But it's just happens: Dior Homme became cool with Hedi, Lanvin was nothing special, and then in the same FW07 became 'wow'. Givenchy, Balenciaga. Even Joop! has made one beautiful collection last winter. And then just discontinued. Why this happens — I'm still wondering. It doesn't look like a lack of inspiration.
Autumn 2007, by the way, was very successful season for many designers. That remarkable Prada collection...
